A family day out at a fairground in Bexhill-on-Sea, in East Sussex, left a six year old boy requiring ten stitches to a nasty head wound.

The Bexhill-on-Sea Observer is reporting that six year old Ryan Martin was enjoying a family day out at the fair, with his parents and his eight year old sister Abbie, when the youngsters decided to take a ride on a children’s carousel..

Their father, Alistair Martin, told the newspaper that he heard his son cry out, not long after the ride started. He said that the roundabout was stopped and it was discovered that Ryan had a massive cut to the back of his head.

An ambulance was called and the young boy was taken to the Eastbourne District General Hospital, where he received ten stitches to his head wound.

Mr. Martin believes the injury could have been caused by the unprotected edges of the fibre-glass carriage the children were riding in, which was shaped to look like a breakdown truck.

An inspector from the Health and Safety Executive (HSE), stated that the roundabout was properly certificated but believes the child could have banged his head on an exposed edge, which although smooth to touch could have caused the injury.

Mr. Martin stated that he had taken legal advice in regards to the incident.
